The 4CaaSt project aims to create an advanced PaaS Cloud platform which supports the optimized and elastic hosting of Internet-scale multi-tier applications. 4CaaSt embeds all the necessary features, easing programming of rich applications and enabling the creation of a true business ecosystem where applications coming from different providers can be tailored to different users, mashed up and traded together.

SwiNG is the Swiss National Grid Association.
SwiNG's mission is to:
- Ensure competitiveness of Swiss science, education and industry by creating value through resource sharing.
- Establish and coordinate a sustainable Swiss Grid infrastructure as a dynamic network of resources across different locations and administrative domains.
- Provide a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration to leverage the Swiss Grid activities, supporting end-users, researchers, education centers, resource providers and industry.
- Represent the interests of the national Grid community towards other national and international bodies.
The Trigger and Data Acquisition System of the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at CERN is designed to acquire information from the detector of the CMS handling about 10
5 events/second selecting about 10
2 events/second for the offline analysis. I have been involved in the design and development of the Run Control System. It is the subcomponent that has the task to coordinate, control and configure the entire Data Acquisition System that is composed of about 7000 machines.
AGaTA is a research and development project aiming to build a 4p gamma-ray spectrometer of the next generation. It will be used in experiments using both intense stable and radioactive heavy-ion beams, to study the structure of atomic nuclei as a function of angular momentum, isospin, and temperature at the limits of their stability. I have been involved in the design and development of the Run Control System, the subcomponent that controls and monitors the entire data acquisition processes.
Nepomuk was one of the biggest European Information and Society Technologies projects. Its goal was to develop a comprehensive solution for extending the personal desktop into a collaboration environment which supports both the personal information management and sharing and exchange across social and organizational relations. This solution is called the Social Semantic Desktop. On the one hand it supports the personal aspects of knowledge work with tools for knowledge articulation and visualization, the interfaces and data structures of the personal semantic web, and integration of personal work process support. On the other hand it supports the social aspects of communication, distributed collaboration, and social exchange by providing solutions for distributed search and storage and of semantic social networks and knowledge exchange.
The goal of GridCC was to exploit Grid opportunities for secure and collaborative work of distributed teams to remotely operate and monitor scientific equipment using the Grid's massive memory and computing resources for storing and processing data generated by this kind of equipment.
